Out and About

It was Wednesday so why change a habit of a lifetime, well the last number of years anyway, and with the sun shining Clive and I set of on a shortish local ride. I never have any idea where I’m going so I let Clive set the route. We usually head off through Budock Water but we’ve found recently it’s been quite busy and difficult to keep 2 metres away from people in the village so we went the normal route via Argal Crossroads and along to Halvasso. We went right at Crane garage and along to Penmarth where we shouted at Jane from the other side of the road. She was picking radishes from her garden, her husband and her are well and Jane is managing to get out on her bike regularly. We headed off and while going up the hill caught a glimpse of Colin and he sped down the hill. We rode along to Four Lanes and turned right at the Victoria Inn. It was a quiet ride along to Penhalvean where we stopped to look at the plants on sale outside a house. There was a very lovely Purple Beech plant for sale far too big to fit on the bike but we may go back another day if it is still available. We took the lane that leads to the funny little junction near Burncoose nursery and headed off toward Perranwell Station. Presumably there are not many buses going through the village as the bus stop in Perranwell Station is filled now with lots of food along with a fridge. We continued along what is my standard route home from work and turned left toward Hangmans Hill. We again saw a Wheeler whizzing down the hill as we rode up, this time it was Robin. He was searching out even more hills around the local area. We followed him up Hangmans hill and we saw him again as he was coming back up Truro hill as we were going down toward Commercial Road. With hills in my mind we decided to ride up Old Hill instead of Dracaena Avenue. I had ridden up Old Hill the day before and I’m building up the confidence to attempt Symons Hill seeing as there seems to be a bit of a hill challenge going on. A lovely ride on a sunny day with the hedgerows looking their best and nice to see others out and about too.
