My Marathon My Pace

Marathon Field

For those of you not on any the Wheelers WhatsApp groups, I wanted to let you know I’m trying to raise money for Cornwall Hospice care.

As the London Marathon was due to run today but has been postponed CHC is organizing a Your Marathon at Your Pace. Basically participants have 4 weeks to complete the Marathon distance of 26.2 miles. I can ride a bike reasonably well but I can’t run due to an old ankle injury and so will be walking the distance. As a bit more of a challenge I plan to walk the whole distance in one day and that day is planned for this Tuesday 28th April.

The reasons I want to raise money for CHC, not only do I work for CHC but my Father was looked after by Mount Edgcumbe Hospice during his final days.

So if you would like to sponsor me I’ve a Just Giving page which you can find here

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ian-murrells1

Or I can take a cheque which can be posted to me. Any amount no matter how small will be gratefully received.

Ian

  1. Good Luck Ian! I was thinking of you walking in the mud but I’m glad to see you have postponed it to a nicer day. As a volunteer at CHC shops for twelve years now, I know much the charity relies on its retail income – on a good day the Falmouth shop would take over £500 – and the two adult hospices in Cornwall need £6m a year to keep going. So being shut down means a huge loss, and many of the other fund raising events can’t take place either. People needing hospice care haven’t gone away during this present crisis – so well done to Ian and let’s all support him. Liz

Sorry today’s attempt has been postponed due to rain. It’s an earth track around the field and could become slippery in places. I will post a rearranged date soon.
