Met a cyclist in Ponsanooth - on hols down here from Cardiff: he was a member of the Maindy Flyers: Geraint Thomas' club
Hi everyone
Just wanted to thank the Wheelers for the beautiful flowers you sent me following my operation and hospital stay earlier this week-really cheered me up ๐ it was all a bit unexpected as what turned out to be a minor swelling on my arm ended up as an acute infection on the plates I had put in 10 years ago !
They took out the plate and cleaned out the infection so thatโs good but I wonโt be able to cycle for a few weeks until the wound has healed๐ข! Unfortunately Iโll miss riding the Audax tomorrow but will see you all there if youโre doing it ~
Many thanks again for your support
Love Paula
Apologies - am unable to attend the club meeting this Thursday 26th. Unavoidable commitment. R
Many thanks all for the nice little gathering at Bon Appetit on Saturday Nov 5th - good to see you all; and thanks for the lifts to and from. R

If anyone would like one please call me on 07981716751 or I will bring them to the November meeting - a great idea for Christmas gifts too!

I have posted the notes of the October meeting in the Forum.
Further to my earlier message about potholes (where aren't there any?) More are (or potentially) opening up between Norway and Devoran. Just be aware! I know this should be obvious - Grandmother and eggs etc., but you need to keep a careful eye on the road ahead. Sorry to nag! R753 If anyone does not know, 753 refers to the particular Reynolds tubing. R
We are hoping to arrange a social night at BR adventure, Halvasso.
The Cornish Barista cafe will open just for us in the evening. Provided we have a minimum of twenty people, all meals will be pre- ordered in advance. Suggest we go for Friday the 18th or 25th of November or 2nd December. We'd like to confirm the date at our October meeting.
Sadly, my Royce large flange hubs will be going to the Cycling Club in the sky! One flange in the rear one has cracked - I guess it has suffered 40 years of hard use/abuse and all good things come to an end. At least I can still rely on Hope (hubs, that is) - they just don't look as good! I am now in mourning.
Iโve emailed you all about Pilates restarting. Weโre aiming for October on a Monday at 5.15pm. Please can you all check your emails/spam as youโve all received this and replies were due in by last Thursday. Iโm just checking that we havenโt missed anyone as number are limited.
The pot hole between Norway and Devoran, the first one after Norway hdg towards Devoran, has been repaired, but there are more hdg in this direction! Take care! R753
Richard 572 has reported serious potholes on main road from Devoran to Norway Inn, making this even more dangerous than usual. Take care.
In light of the increasing rise in Covid cases, again, members are required to carry out a lateral flow test before coming to the party on the 16th.
Thanks for an excellent pathfinder ride Phil and helpers - great weather and not too hilly!! Excellent! Cheers Paula x
Just to let you know we have some more club kit in the larger sizes short sleeved men 2XL and 3XL if anyone wants them
Please get back to me on paula 07981716751
Cheers
Tour of Britain group ride is meeting at 11am at Gylly Beach on Sunday. Weโll ride around the point in groups and then meet again at our start point to go for an afternoon ride.
Falmouth to Lands End Ride - Friday 10th Sept.
A small group of friends from my old club in Bromley are doing a 400mile ride from Bromley to Lands End. A bit of a retirement celebration for Andrew (who cycled with the Wheelers a couple of times in the summer). Iโm planning to join them for the last couple of days on 9th and 10th September.
On the last day, Friday 10th Sept, weโll be setting off at 9/9.30am and riding from Falmouth to LE, Weโd welcome any Wheelers whoโd like to join us for the day. The plan is to catch the 4.15pm train from Penzance back to Truro/London. Anyone interested, drop me a line to arrange the meeting point. Sarah .
I am informed that members who want to order club kit that we do not hold in stock can now order direct from the supplier. See Club Kit page for details.

Kath and Fred are doing a trip from Cardiff to Holyhead starting 6th September lasting six or seven days. The route is 250 miles and they will be carrying their gear and camping; there maybe a possibility of B&B on route. Anyone interested please let them know by Wednesday the 7th of July as they will soon be booking campsites etc
