We were in for a big surprise. Sunday ride 9/4/23.

It was a dry sometimes sunny day with a cool southerly breeze and the forecast of rain later.
Thats that out of the way, thirteen in the group i was with left HQ heading for Idless woods. The other group were headed for Perranuthnoe.
Our route was to be via Mabe church, Longdowns, but Dean had other ideas and carried straight on at Union corner, dissension already – suppose we better follow him he will get lost otherwise we all agreed. So suicide alley was negotiated in groups of four and then on to Chacewater down quiet lane past Truro International airport and onto Shortlanesend. Over main road right then right down to the Woodmans cafe, Robin was already there talking to a couple from Newquay Velo club. There were only two on duty so we envisioned a long wait but service was remarkably quick. Well refreshed now Fourteen of us headed for Truro which was deserted as it being Easter Sunday all shops were shut. Dean pointed out the Passmore Edwards buildings we need to visit on his challenge – twenty buildings in Cornwall, sign up if you haven’t already. He also wanted to check out the Newham cycle route, so we passed skinners yard (anyone know whats happening with it, rumour has it that has been sold). Then onto Playing Place, Point then Devoran, where much discussion ensued as to what way to go home. I said i was going Perranwell, stithians! Still debate so i set off waiting at crossroads above Perranwell to be joined by Ian, Amanda, Jan, Phil1 and Silvia. Leaving Robin, Terrasa, Dean, Kath, Sheila, Ben, John and Sarah. Sarah apparantly followed us but missed a turning or something all will be reveiled in the fullness of time possibly!
A very pleasent ride and a nice coffee stop.
Fred
