The usual – Where shall we go? Swiftly followed by; ‘Where is the coffee good’? ‘Where is the food okay’? Porthtowan was the destination.
By the time we arrived at the top of Halvasso, it was decided that we’d split into two groups. Me, Ian, John, Mike, Simon, Colin and Adrian heading out in pursuit of Ian who led us on a route via, Chapel Hill (the right way to approach it – going down!), St Day, St Agnes, eventually arriving in Porthtowan just after the other group. On the way we’d ‘made friends’ with a bus driver who’d pulled over to comment on our group riding ability. He wasn’t a fan, but by the time we’d encountered him a few more times, he seemed to warm to us, giving me a thumbs ups and big smile as I gave way to him on the road.
Here’s the route –
Great toast and breakfast. Simon nearly missed his order but thanks to everyone calling out his name, topped by Kath’s “SIMON” he tucked into to his bacon sandwich. Time passed…………….
Group A/B/1/2/Freds headed off leaving Paul who joined our group. He had decided not to have a swim today but had come along prepared with colourful swim shorts. We’ll get the photo another time.
The usual route back. I made it through Halvasso despite the van swerving in front of me followed by the car that had pulled out from the campsite! Phew!
Lovely sunny day at last!
