Twin stop Ogil ride

A fine day beckoned, dry with little or no wind, so ideal conditions, if a little cold, for a bike ride. Only seven of us, Keith, Paul, Simon, Ian, Dean, Adrian and me, gathered at the Other Place today and there were no dissenters when Poldhu was suggested as our destination.
Ian, our leader of choice, lead us on our usual route to Gweek with a quick detour- left at Trewardreva Cross and Constantine School, then another at Brill so we could pass Treloquithick and Gweek Garage. Rejoining the road through Gweek a suggestion of an early coffee stop at the boatyard was met with enthusiasm (we were all glad to get inside and warm up).
Suitably refreshed we continued on along Gweek Drive and on to Trelowarren. At Traboe Cross we settled into a fast paced peloton with Ian and Paul doing the hard work at the front. We joined the Lizard/ Helston road briefly before turning left to cycle through Mullion and down to Poldhu.
We had warm reception from the staff and the usual wonderful views as we settled in to our snacks. For those choosing eggs on toast there were THREE eggs!
The world put to right we were on our way again, up the hill through the Curys and around Culdrose. Helston Trevor met us at the new estate Park an Daras for a chat and we were off home up Muddy Lane to Crane Garage.
Dropping riders as we neared home my bike was as dirty as ever (see photo) even on a ‘dry and sunny’ day the roads are filthy and still very wet in places.
A great ride with two separate coffee stops!
50.3 miles for me
