Dale hadn’t been to St Ives since returning to the club so to put that right we made it the destination for this week’s Long Ride. I just hadn’t considered that both he and Phil would want to get there so quickly! 😱
I had an alternative longer route via Gurnards Head but the unrelenting pace set by my riding companions drained me of energy and missing the 11:30 cut off for breakfast at the Balcony Bar was no longer an option! Instead we joined the coast road just beyond Towednack and after a short climb swept down into St Ives.
We returned via Gwithian, Combe and Four Lanes to find Ian already waiting for us at the “Seven Stars” in Stithians. And it was a nice surprise to be joined by Richard who’d ridden from Ponsanooth up the very steep Cot Hill to join us!
