Hello Joe. Most of the longer cycle paths/trails around Cornwall are rideable on road bikes with 'skinny' tyres - i.e 700 X 23. Certainly, I have ridden the Coast to Coast from Devoran to Portreath - just taking care and keeping a lookout on the rougher bits. The Camel Trail from Bodmin to Padstow is relatively smooth throughout. I have little knowledge about Cross bikes. Probably ideal for you would be any sound road bike with 700 X 25 tyres or a lightweight tourer. Come and join one of our rides and I am sure many will offer helpful advice. R74

Hello, I am looking to get my first road bike. However, I am stuck choosing between a proper road bike or a cyclocross bike. My main worry is if I get a road bike I would then not be able to go on slightly rougher terrain. I live in Falmouth and haven't ridden much around here. So I am also wondering what the cycle paths are like around here; are they are okay for road bikes or would a cyclocross bike be more suited? Thanks.

I wondered where that cap had gone. Crocs might be mine as well, I have lots left lying around in odd places.
